Activities in Australia
January 22nd, 2012The beautiful island continent of Australia is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the world. The land ‘down under’ has been known for its natural wonders and its many wide open spaces. But it is now also among the top urbanized locations in that part of the world. It is also now a cultural, artistic, industrial and tourism center as well. Landmarks of Australia include the Sydney Harbor Bridge, the great Ayers Rock, and the iconic Sydney Opera House.
Swimming: Aside from the thousands of miles of oceanic coast and beaches found in Australia, there are also several other bodies of water found there. There are freshwater lakes found inland, several rivers, and even relaxing thermal pools. The waters on Australia are said to be rejuvenating and most locals believe that Australia is the birthplace of life.
Surfing: Australia’s thousands of beaches are the locations for what many consider to be the best surfing spots in the world. From ten-storey high cliff waves to soft and gentle reef waves, the beaches and coastlines of Australia are considered to be one of the most diverse and challenging surfs in the globe. The tropical weather and warm waters also make Australia’s beaches among the best.
Wildlife: Australia also features among the most unique and interesting wild life. Australia is almost synonymous with the Kangaroo, also its national animal. Kangaroos and wallabies reside in parks and zoos all over the continent. Australia is also home to the cuddly Koala. Although it is notoriously hard to spot one in the wild, there are some that are found in wildlife pars and zoos also.
Rock climbing: Most of the locations of inland Australia are just made up of desserts and wide open spaces, but there are also great rocks and mountains to be climbed. One of the great tourist attractions in Australia is the great Ayers Rock, one of the largest rock formations in the world. These rocks and rock formations are great locations for hiking and rock-climbing.
Horse Riding: For generations, most of Australia travelled across the great expanse of the continent through horseback. Horses were also an important part of exploring most of the outback and in the early days when settling cattle was a prime industry in Australia. Now most of the horse riding done in Australia is done for recreation. The horses in Australia are treasured and they are still used in most of small towns and coastal villages in Australia.
