Announcing 2008 CenterStage Rising Star Youth Workshops!

July 7-27, 2008
Rising Star Youth Workshop presents
Seussical the Musical

"I can see that you've got quite a mind for your age!
Why, one Think and you dragged me right onto the stage!
Now, I'm here, there is no telling what may ensue
With a Cat such as me, and a Thinker like you!"

So says the mischievous Cat in the Hat at the onset of this fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and all of the Whos of Whoville!

CenterStage Rising Star workshop students will spend three fun-filled weeks expanding their skills through classes such as dance, music, acting, improvisation, costuming and stage combat, as well as by preparing a full-length production of Seussical, the Musical!

The 2008 Rising Star Workshop is for all students ages 6-18. No audition or experience is required! Classes are held Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-4:00PM. Performances will be July 25th and 26th at 7:00PM and July 27th at 2:00PM.

Cost of attending the three week workshop is $400, which includes most materials associated with production.

Introducing our newest educational opportunity...

June 23-29, 2008
CenterStage Rising Star Intensive Workshop
The World Goes 'Round

"Sometimes you're happy and sometimes you're sad
But the world goes 'round."

Life--with its glories, indignities, hopes and quiet dreams--is the subject of this stunning revue of the beloved songs of John Kander and Fred Ebb.
The vast range of human experience is explored in song after impeccable song by one of Broadway's most daring and successful teams and masters of the heart-grabbing Broadway showstopper. This glittering revue features unforgettable gems from throughout their incredible career in theatre, film and television, spotlighting songs from Cabaret; Chicago; New York, New York; Funny Lady; Kiss Of The Spiderwoman and more.

2008 intensive workshop students will attend specialized master classes each morning taught by local professionals. Afternoons will be spent in rehearsal for The World Goes 'Round.

Due to the intense nature of this workshop, students will be accepted by invitation only. Students may be recommended by faculty, or they may audition. All students must be at least 12 years old at the time of the workshop.

All students attending the intensive workshop must also attend the Seussical workshop. Financial assistance is available.

If you are interested in being considered for this special opportunity, please email risingstars@centerstage-productions.org for audition information.

Workshop Information
Each summer, we offer students various education opportunities. In each workshop, students explore various aspects of musical theatre, including music, acting, dance, stage combat, acting in media and improv. After strengthening their skills through classes, students are involved in all aspects of presenting a full length musical. Students spend their summer in a fun, low pressure environment. Our small camp size and low student-teacher ratio ensure that each child can reach their full potential while working with our highly qualified professional instructors. Come join the fun in 2008!

Great arts education prepares our children for the future by giving them a better grasp on language, a more creative outlook in studies such as literature and math, and provides the opportunity to reap the social and intellectual benefits of creative group study. And it is our belief that this education should be available to as many children as possible.

The Rising Stars Ensemble was formed this year in order to provide year-round training and performing opportunities for our most artistically promising youth. Selected from our summer workshops, the Rising Stars consists of sixteen students, ages 7-18, who have shown exceptional talent, maturity, enthusiasm and commitment.

The Rising Stars Ensemble is currently preparing a Broadway-style revue, as well as a Holiday program. Whether you are having a birthday party, a company picnic, a civic meeting or anything in between, the Rising Stars are available for booking at your next event! Please contact RisingStars@centerstage-productions.org for booking information.

The Rising Stars Ensemble is completely funded by the generous support of patrons like you. Costs of the program include the purchase of sheet music, a sound system, rental of rehearsal space, and contracting of musicians and choreographers. Your individual or corporate donation will help us reach our goals!
