Audition:

Auditions for GREASE: Auditions will be
held for the musical GREASE, presented by CenterStage, on Saturday,
August 9 at 7:00pm and Sunday, August 10 at 2:00pm at the offices
of Brasfield & Gorrie, 3021 7th Avenue South. Those auditioning
should bring sheet music (accompanist provided) and may be asked
to read from the script. Please also wear (or bring) comfortable
clothing suitable for a movement audition. GREASE will be directed
by Frank Thompson, with Musical Direction by Debbie Mielke, Choreography
by Bonnie Wootan, and Stage Management by Lee Fowler. Production
dates are October 17-26 at Virginia Samford Theatre. The roles of
SANDY, RIZZO, and TEEN ANGEL have been cast. All other roles are
open.

| Youth Acting Workshop at VST | September-December, 2008 Frank Thompson, Artistic Director of CenterStage, is offering a 14-week acting workshop for young people ages 8-18. Classes will be held at the historic Virginia Samford Theatre in the Martha Moore Sykes Studio. In addition to Thompson, instructors will include Matthew Von Redlich (SFDA Certified Fight Arranger/Stage Combat) Leah Luker (Production Manager, Birmingham Children's Theatre) Martha Summey (Instructor of Theatre, The Altamont School) and other local theatre professionals. The cost of the workshop is $350 for the 14- week course, which will culminate in a showcase performance by the students. AGES 13-18 will meet on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30-5:00pm, and AGES 8-12 on Thursdays from 3:30-5:00pm. (For those coming in a few minutes late, the first fifteen minutes of each class will be devoted to a physical and vocal warm-up.) Topics covered will include acting, voice & diction, movement, improv, stage combat, and more! Class sizes are limited to insure plenty of individual instruction.
